The Mills Christmas tree: using waste to spark joy
PROJECT
OVERVIEW
The Christmas tree crafted for the mills is an experiment with new ways to utilise recycled fabric. Discarded fabric are wrapped and buddled into large strings to create the Christmas trees transforming what many consider waste into art. By breathing new life into discarded materials, we emphasize the importance of recycling and reusing. This installation challenges perceptions of waste, reimagining unusable clothing as symbols of beauty. Through community engagement workshops, helpers collectively created the featured ropes, fostering community pride and showcasing the potential of repurposed materials.
